Ok, what were your thoughts on Smaug. My first thought was his name. "Smog" is a mixture of smoke and fog. So, yeah. Also i think it's very fitting that his scales shine like a treasure themselves.

If Smaug had those laser eyes that could help him see in the dark wouldn't the light from his eyes cast Bilbos shadow because it said on page 56 that if the ring wearer were to be in light he would cast a shadow.
