Ok so I'm a little confused, what is Gollum??? The way he talks I keep wanting to think he's a snake, but by the author's description of him I'm pretty sure he's not. Somebody mentioned something about him changing forms into Smaug or something. Do ya'll know anything about that?

Like when he was throwing the fire at the wolves, he used magic, so why couldn't he just throw water at the goblins when they tried to catch their trees on fire?
