Okay, on page 272 when Bilbo is talking to Bard & the Elvenking, he says
"Dain, I may tell you, is now less than two days' march off, and has at least five hundred grim dwarves with him-a good many of them have had experience in the dreadful dwarf and goblin wars..."
then on page 273, when he's handing over the Arkenstone, he says
"It will aid you in your bargaining."
and then what Gandalf says on page 274, "There is an unpleasant time just in front of you; but keep your heart up! You may come through all right."
Do you think those are connected? Or maybe all linking together to foreshadow a war of some sort? And the 'bargaining' Bilbo was talking about was maybe related to Dain & the army of dwarves, since they all treasure the Arkenstone so much? Just thinking:)
