Niceee! And I believe it has something to do with what Bilbo says on page 272. "Dain, may I tell you, is now less than two days' march off, and has at least five hundred grim dwarves with him--a good many of them have had experience in the dreadful dwarf and goblin wars..."
I think Dain might be the result of his own cousin's death.
