I would have remembered it, because i would have written it down or something, because these things would be important to the outcome of the quest and would benefit the peopple in my group.

Well, it doesn't really matter if they remembered it right when they got there, or when the keyhole showed up, because either way, there was a certain time that you can get to the keyhole.
