I don't know about you, but those elves seem pretty... ignorant... What are some good examples of advice they've ignored so far? (up to chapter 12, that is)
I'm also curious to know wether or not these are foreshadowing... I mean, it kinda is, right?

Yes. Of course they will! Some advice would be them not staying on the path. As for foreshadowing, in ON THE DOORSTEP all the clues come together about what Elrond said on pages 53 (A SHORT REST), and that's how the door opens.
"Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks and the setting sun with the last light of Durin's Day will shine upon the keyhole."
(This means the door can only be opened once a year!)

Yes. Of course they will! Some advice would be them not staying on the path.
