well i am pretty sure it would have not been a good thing at all if anything would have happened but i think before they were about to get tourcherd or a death penalty they would have told about thier journey to the king and then just tryed to escape the best way they could

I think the dwarves would have given in after a while i mean Thorin was thinking on telling the Elven King why they were really there on page 175 so after awhile i think they would have given in. But if they hadn't i think the elves would have killed themAnd if Bilbo had left them they would haved died anyways but he was a good guy and stayed to help his friends

I don't think the elves would have killed the dwarves, because on page number 169 it says, "They gave him food and drink, plenty of both, if not very fine; for the Wood-elves were not goblins, and were reasonably well-behaved even to their worst enemies, when they captured them. The giant spiders were the only living things that they had no mercy upon." So if Bilbo left I think the dwarves would have probably told the king where they were going eventually, and then the king would have let them go in exchange for a percentage of the treasure. I think the king would have probably sent some elves with the dwarves to make sure he got the treasure, too. But, I don't think Bilbo would ever leave the dwarves.

If Biblo didn't help the dwarves, i think they would have gotten killed by the Elves. Bilbo was just nice enough to stay and help he's friends, but i kinda think thats because of Gandalf....

I think that the elves would eventually let them go, they don't seem like cruel creatures, so I don't think that they would torture them or anything.
As for Bilbo, if he kept the ring on if he left the dwarves, I think he would be fine because he's learned more as the adventure proceeded, and he would be scared but survive.

I think that not only would Bilbo had lost the respect of the dwarves and their trust, but I think he would have lost respect for himself.

I don't think that they would have killed the dwarves but I do think that we would have kept them locked up until they told the Elven King why they were in the forest.
bilbo would never leave them any way DUHH!
