I think that Bilbo has more Took in him than he expected. As the story progressed, Bilbo became more in touch with his bravery, and was more willing to take risks, which would bring them closer to the ultimate boone.

He has that sort of Tookish side to him.In the beginning Bilbo was very caustious of his surroundings, and toward the end he let go of his fears. When he thought of himself as brave. He really proved the dwarves wrong, and showed that he can handle things that are more powerful and greater than him.

Took? He is more adventurous than he appears as the novel go on he becomes more and more comfortable with what he is and has to do. He starts to let the took side of him show in his decisions and actions.

He has bravery that springs up at all the right times. He has luck that saves him more times than he can count. He's very creative in terms of coming up with ideas of how to free the dwarves and such. He has the magic ring which pretty much gets him through a lot.

I think Bilbo has potential. That's why Gandalf picked him. The dwarves thought he was hopeless but it turned out that he was a great burglar. Bilbo doesn't even know he had potential but it really came out in the end.

I would say LUCK but I think Bilbo knows he's kind of lucky. Bravery seems kind of obvious but he did say he didn't think he was a good burgular so maybe he doesn't realize he's brave. I wonder how Gandalf knows what Bilbo has in him.

The luck of a million people (hyperbole) and the future finding of the ring. Bilbo was always lucky, then he found the ring and his luckiness/skills increased ten-fold.

I think Bilbo has more adventure or took in him then he first realized. It takes a while for him to come out of his shell, but eventually he does step up and be a leader. A lot of the timing of when he steps up is dependent on finding the ring and Gandalf leaving. It just takes a little support from Gandalf to realize he can. Gandalf knew this all along and that is the main reason he picked Bilbo.

Bilbo is a quiet little hobbit minding his own business when suddenly all of these dwarves and Gandalf start approaching him to tell him to come on their adventure. So he definitely became more adventurous throughout the book and he also became more brave, had more courage, and heoric.
