What do you think will happen now that Bard has the Arkenstone? What will Thorin do to Bilbo?
Bilbo said, "this is the Arkenstone of Thrain...heart of the mountain and it is also the heart of Thorin." I am assuming that Thorin would be very upset with Bilbo and probably will not want to share his treasure.
Bilbo said, "I give it to you. It will aid you in your barganing." Now that Bard has the Arkenstone he will probably make a trade with Thorin. The Arkenstone for share of the treasure.

... Oh wait, that's on the next chapter. Hold on. What I had thought Thorin would do to Bilbo was that Thorin would never know because Bilbo made his trade saying, "... I am willing to let it stand against all my claims..." (pg. 294) I thought that sorta meant that he had no claim as to ever having it, or something. Since Bard now has the Arkenstone, he would probably want to trade it for much more, seeing that the Arkenstone is one precious... jewel?
