At the start of chapter 17 Thorin is fruious at Bilbo

Well he didn't think that Bilbo could do it at the beginning p.24 "It is all very well for Gandalf to talk of this hobbit being fierce, but one shriek like that in a moment of excitement would be enough to wake the dragonand kill the lot of us.....He looks more like a grocer than a burglar!"but as he saw that Bilbo was not useless he respected him and then liked him- until he gave the Arkenstone to Bard.
