Do you think Gandalf's "buisness" had anything to do with the elves or the Lake-men or Smaug? Why do you think he was there with Bard and the Elvenking? Who's side do you think he is on; Bard and the Elvenking's side or Thorin and the dwarves' side?

I don't thing Gandalf's pressing buisness was with the Lake-men or woodelves. Way back on pg.190 it says "...if he had known that news of this had reached Gandalf far away and had given him great anxiety, and that he was in fact finishing his other buisness (which does not come into this tale) and getting ready to come in search of Thorin's company." It says he was far away and finished with his buisness way before the time the lake-men were up on the mountain. I do think he however considers Thorin unreasonable and at the moment sides with the lake men.
