Do you think it is a little weird that Smaug noticed when one little thing was gone? If you were rich like him would you care if one tiny cup was stolen???

I do think it was kinda odd that he noticed that one little golden cup. Then again, it could be really special to him, maybe his first stolen item? Hm...

On page 217 it says "the sort of rage that is only seen in rich folk that have more than they can enjoy suddenly lose something that they have long had but have never before used or wanted." So even though he had all this stuff, when one thing was missing, I guess it was the idea that someone stole something that was HIS, or that he thought was his. If someone took something from you, even if you had more of it, you'd kind of upset that they just took it without asking.
