Okay,

For number 8 in our packet, (Why did Thorin demand to be taken to the Master of the Men of the Lake?) I'm QUITE confused about.

Did Thorin already KNOW the Master?
Was there anyone else thatcould give them shelter or provisions?
Did Thorin know that the Master would comply and give the group everything they wanted?
Did Thorin just ASSUME that the Master would believe him?

Please answer... because I don't really know what to put in my packet!!! weirdface.gif

He probably knew that that was the way he and his friends were going to be treated. Thorin probably didn't KNOW the Master but from his father, he must have heard of how he, Thorin, would be if he went to the Master. There was probably no one else there, especially since they were that close to Smaug. 3) Yes. 4) Probably.

I think Thorin wanted to go see him just so that he could declare that he had returned..

I think he just knew there was a leader at the lake-town so he just demanded to be taken to him.
I think the lake-town was the only town for a while.
I think he just believed he could convince the master that he was who he was.
I think the people were desperate and believed in the legend so Thorin knew once he said who he was people would immediately believe him.
