On page 222 (in the little green book) it says, "But Bilbo was not quite so unlearned in dragon-lore as all that, and if Smaug hoped to get him to come nearer so easily he was dissapointed." How do you think Bilbo knows about dragon-lore if he didn't even know who Smaug was in the beginning of the book?

I took it as Bilbo just used common sense to not to tell him information about himself. I might be wrong though, maybe he did know dragon-lore all along and was just not speaking out about it at the beginning. I don't know, I'm just confusing myself evn more.
