I know Thorin was the king under the mountains grandson but why would they treat him so good if they don't even know if that really is him??
I think they are just THAT excited to see someone come back, and he might look like them, I don't know. Maybe they take lies more seriously than most people.

I think it is just human nature to want to believe in miracles, and it is kind of a miracle for Thror's grandson to come back to them they think, so they don't really question how real it is. You can tell they have been looking forward to a day when they could say "hey look, the King is back." I mean, they even had a song about it. I also think that they are probably thinking that now that Thror's grandson is back, he will defeat Smaug, and then things will go back to the way they used to be when there was no dragon. I think they look at Thorin more like a symbol of what life used to be like, so the sight of him, even though they didn't really know for sure that he was Thror's grandson, brings them hope.
