Does Gollum actually call himself gollum, or everytime he is saying something and happens to say "gollum", is that him swallowing? I didn't see Lord of the Rings...

I didn't see it eighter, but think that it's kind of an occasional 2 way conversation, like him answering or agreeing with himself by saying Gollum.

Yeah i was wondering that too. And i have never seen the movies either. But i think it is him talking to himself because the guy is a little messed up in the head, and he is lonely and he never has anyone to talk to so he talks to himself.

I thought he called himself precious? Like he goes, Do we likes him, Precious? Or something like that. It says he talks to himself cause there's no one else to talk to down there, which is sad):
And when he said gollum he made a horrible swallowing noise in his throat. That is how he got his name, though he always called his self my precious. Page 80 in my book.
