Gollum used to live with his grandmother in a hole in a bank by a river. 1.Do you think he might have had a different personality living with family above ground? 2.What happened (or could have happened) to cause him to move from cheerful sunlight by a river to the depths of dark goblin tunnels? 3.If goblins rarely came to Gollum's "home", where do you think he got his boat?

1. I think when he lived aboveground he wouldn't have wanted to eat everything. He probably also was nicer. 2. I think he got mad at his grandma (if that's even possible) and ran away from home with his belongings then got stuck in a tunnel surronded by goblins. 3. I looked it up on the internet and these are some various answers from people. He migt have have stolen it from the Goblins: since their road ended at the shore, they would not have had any reason to cross the lake and therefore would not have kept a boat OR One guess is that it was a coracle, made from ribs and hide of orcs. OR he found various scraps and built it from those scraps.

Other than moving from nice happy sunshine to dark depressing caves and having goblin as a delicacy insted of something nice.... nope.Either it was that he got captured or the ring drove him insane posibly both.The boat could have been from when the goblins found their tunnles couldn't extend farther in that direction he stole it.
