Many of you are asking me about getting a cool little picture thing for your profile here at the discussion board. There are some icons/avatars that are readily available to you that aren't too bad. Let's first address how to find and use one of those:
1. Find your name in the login box and click it. Your profile will come up.
2. Select "Avatar" from the sidebar on the left.
3. Select the option "Choose an Avatar" under the Change Avatar heading.
4. Click "Pick Library Image"
5. Choose a subject and click the icon you'd like to use in your profile.
Easy Cheesy!
Ok so now for those of you who want the slightly bigger, fancier icons. First, you've got to have remote-hosting site for your pictures, preferable one that configures an URL (web address) for them. My favorite is www.photobucket.com Photobucket Photo Hosting for a couple of reasons:
a. You can host your images there and it will create a URL tag for you. Super-easy. b. You can search its database for images and with a click add them to your images. Super-easy! c. You can also add your own images from your hard drive if you want.
Now don't go and sign up for a photobucket account unless you've gotten the go-ahead from your parents!
Here are the steps for adding an avatar from a remote site (ie photobucket).
1. Follow steps 1 & 2 from above.
2. Click "Link to an Avatar".
3. In the box provided, enter the URL of your image. (easy to do from photobucket - simply copy & paste...)
4. Click "Save Changes".
Easy Cheesy!
